Description:

Bambusa multiplex ‘Alphonse Karr’ is a medium-sized evergreen bamboo that is native to China.

 It has tall, upright, bright golden-yellow canes, up to 20mm wide, with random green stripes and panels. 

When exposed to bright sunlight, the golden color of the culms turns orange-red, becoming a deeper golden-yellow with age. 

Young shoots emerging from the ground are tinged with pink. The fine, luxuriant, green leaves, display occasionally a thin creamy-yellow stripe. This non-invasive bamboo makes a wonderful container plant and is an excellent choice for a privacy screen or pruned into a hedge.
